Bite-Sized Dessert Delights
There’s been a trend the past few years in French bistros, cafés and restaurants called the Café Gourmand. It’s an alternative to a single, full-sized dessert which includes a cup of espresso and a selection of anywhere from 3 to 6 mini desserts. The usual suspects include chocolate mousse, financiers, tiny chocolate cakes, mini crème brûlées and the like, and it’s a gorgeous, varied end to a meal. I’ve been wanting to come up with my own bite-sized dessert ideas and since I’m dieting again I’ve had to find some healthy alternatives to the usual gooey suspects.
So how about these Bite-Size Fruit Picks, made with chunks of berries and fruit? They’re low in calories, fat free, gluten free and even guilt-free 😉
If you’re into more traditional bites, here are some creations by my fellow food bloggers and a few of my previously published recipes:
I’ll be making Kitchen Confidant’s 7-Layer Bars just as soon as I get settled after my diet !
On the healthy side – and in honour of the recent Australia Day – are these Gluten and Dairy Free Lamingtons from MeandmyThermie, with reduced unrefined sugar.
And how about some egg-free Chocolate Cranberry Muffins from Keeper of the Kitchen? Even better for some of us are Luschka’s decadent-yet-healthy Bliss Balls. She has loads of recipes on her blog and has even produced a little e-Book.
And of course you can make little chocolate mousse in espresso cups from my Super Easy Chocolate Mousse recipe.
Then there’s @ThermOMG’s “Free” Brownies, which are Gluten Free, Sugar Free, Grain Free, Nut Free, Paleo and simply delicious!
Three-Chocolate Bites are just that, bite-sized bursts of three chocolates. Puuurrrrfect with coffee or any time you need a chocolate fix 😉
Last but not least, Madame Thermomix’s One-Minute Faux Macarons make lovely little bites to end a meal and enhance a cup of good coffee.
Gosh, so many gorgeous recipes. I’d better get to it!
Bon appétit !
