The Best Laid Plans

I have been tweeting recently with @QuirkyJo of Quirky Cooking and with @ThermomixMama about curries on the one hand and about gluten free recipes on the other. So today I was going to make some gluten free naan breads in my trusty Thermomix to have with another delicious Thermomix curry.

Alas, our electricity inexplicably went off and stayed off for six whole hours. My Thermomix is rather magical but even it cannot run without electricity, so I had to find another way to spend my day. Imagine, in the 21st Century, being cut off from the internet, from television, from radio, and from my laptop. Whatever shall I do? And however will I cook my dinner if I don’t have my Thermomix??
Finding a way to spend the day was really quite easy. We have dogs, and dogs need walks (so do humans!), so off we went on a bit of the North Downs Way.
When we came back the electricity was still off, so we sat outside in the sun with a cup of tea. Not bad, really!
By the time the electricity was restored it was too late for experiments and photographs and my brain was too relaxed, so the gluten-free naan breads will have to wait. And you, Dear Reader, will have to settle for photos of the beautiful Surrey scenery š

Bon appƩtit !
It’s a deal, Gillian! Next time you’re in the UK I’ll take you over there and you can see if it’s the place where you bought your chopping board. Sounds like fun!
Jane – gosh your photos bring back memories!!! Thank you. I think that the buildings in your last photo were the little craft/workshops that I bought my wooden chopping board from over 20 years ago… Always meant to go back and see if the woodturner/woodworker had any other bits that I could have afforded…
Maybe next time we’re in the UK?!?
