MasterChef Live 2011: Day 3
It’s 9 pm on Saturday night and Madame Thermomix has just gotten home from another long but rewarding day at MasterChef Live 2011. She’s tired, her back hurts and the last thing she wants to do is cook dinner, even in her beloved Thermomix. She opens the front door and is greeted not only by Billy the dog but by the amazing smells of the dinner her ThermoHubby John has prepared for her. Life is good!
In her dreams, Madame Thermomix relives the tastes of her lunch at The Restaurant Experience, recalling the tangy chilli bite of the green papaya salad which delightfully offset the sweetish sauce on the grilled Angus beef that accompanied it in her dish from Blue Elephant. Images of steamed vegetables and meltingly good beef cheeks from Maze Gordon Ramsay linger until the dawn.
Flash forward to Sunday morning. After a train ride into London accompanied by as many poppies as can be found in Flanders’ Fields, Madame Thermomix enters Olympia Great Hall for Day 3 of MasterChef Live 2011. There are people everywhere I look. People watching, people eating, people talking, people laughing. There are smiles as Juan Sheet the Plenty man generously poses for pictures with awestruck children and women who would gladly have their way with him. There are looks of concentration as people watch and listen to presentations of products of all kinds. There are looks of amazement as people taste the quality and freshness of food prepared in one of the Thermomixes on the UK Thermomix stand.
Visitors from all walks of life are attracted to the sleek lines of the Thermomix TM31 and stop at the Thermomix stand to see what this amazing kitchen appliance can do and to discover how it can help them eat well and cook with joy. We chat with as many hard-core foodies as we do to people who can’t, won’t or don’t want to cook. We return the smiles of the chefs who use Thermomix on a daily basis in the restaurants where they work and stop by merely to say how much they love their Best Friend in the Kitchen.
Social media has taken hold of the Thermomix world and Twitter friends have been stopping by to say hello to Madame Thermomix since the beginning of the show and today is no exception. We talk to 2010 MasterChef finalist Dr Tim Kinnaird and show him how Thermomix can save time and effort while producing consistently excellent results for his Macarons & More business. MasterChef 2009 winner Mat Follas brings most of the staff of his restaurant to the Thermomix stand to say hello and confirm how valuable Thermomix is in the kitchen of The Wild Garlic. This time the smiles are on our faces.
Flash forward once again to Sunday evening. MasterChef Live 2011 is finished and Madame Thermomix is at home watching The X Factor (did I really admit that??) and writing this blog. Content, she eagerly awaits MasterChef Live 2012 and the opportunity to meet new friends and faces in her Thermomix world.
Bon appétit and see you next year !
