Back to Basics
Pull. Thud. Throw. Pull, pull. Thud. Throw. Pull, pull. Thud. Pull. Thud again. Throw. Pull. Thud, thud, in my face. Throw, one last time.
This morning Martin the Electrician was at the house to install a new electricity thingy and we had no electricity for over three hours. “What? No electricity?” I hear you saying. “No computer, no cordless phone, no Thermomix? However will Madame Thermomix manage?”
Once the shock of the situation hit me, I regrouped and made a survival plan. I’d go outside in the sunshine and work in the garden for a while. As my email withdrawal symptoms subsided, I got to grips – literally – with pulling weeds. My lovely Molly Dog jumped at the chance to be with Mommy outside and in her inimitable persistent way, began her quest to get my attention by dropping her green squeaky ball at my feet or under my nose with a thud. Molly is truly persistent and I truly had lots of weeds to pull, yet my attempts to ignore her were unsuccessful. Instead of making phone calls and writing emails, I just had to play with my dog.
I have to say that I spent a wonderful morning doing non-electrical things! I watered the plants, mowed the lawn, and played tug toys with Molly’s best friend, Billy. I even pruned two trees I hadn’t gotten around to doing for several months.
And then it started to rain, and my outdoor pursuits were throttled. So what did I do? I went inside and read a book. A real, old-fashioned book made of paper, with real pages to turn. Imagine that. Back to basics.
And what did I do when the electricity came back on, even before I turned on my PC? I have to admit, Dear Reader, that I made a nice batch of thick blended soup in my Thermomix and had lunch š
Some people never change…
Bon appƩtit !
