Potatoes and Pizza Under the Surrey Sun
On this gorgeous sunny day here in Surrey we decided to plant our potato crop. John says it’s traditional to do this on Good Friday but this year he’ll be away so today was the perfect substitute.
This year we found some sensibly sized bags of seedling potatoes and some heritage varieties. In addition to these we planted our favourite store-bought varieties that miraculously seem to chit themselves in the darkness of the cupboard! In all we planted an amazing 19 tubs of potatoes including at least seven varieties — enough to keep the two of us up to our ears in spuds until next year!
As a hearty lunchtime treat I made a batch of Jamie Oliver’s pizza dough in the Thermomix, just like I made back after Christmas. We have an abundant crop of chervil in the herb garden so I mixed some in to the dough as I was spreading it onto the pizza pan, to give an added layer of flavour.
White pizza topped with a rocket salad inspired us today. We couldn’t decide which would be better – soft balls of mozzarella or the harder grated stuff – so we made one of each. As you can imagine, I preferred the soft mozzarella and John liked the grated type 😉
It was truly delicioso.
Buon appetito !
Ha ha! We’re even then!! 😀
I know, I know! I’m going to need a new keyboard soon, mine is sinking under the drool from reading your delicious posts!
Groan… you’re making me hungry!! Those pizzas look lovely… I think I’d better go cook dinner and stop drooling on the keyboard! 🙂
